Thurdsay, October 30, 2008

The work has been on and off for the last week due to contractors, weather and materials. Some plumbing was done, some more framing was finished and the brick on the front was done. Looking forward to Memaw coming to see the addition tomorrow, October 31, 2008.

The platform is the landing where you will step down from Mom and Dad's living room onto a landing then down a few stairs through the stairwell to Memaw's living room. There will be a door at the bottom of the stairs.

This picture shows the door to the left of the stairwell.

The brick is laid out before putting it up.
Mr. Larry and Mr. Sonny were back to do the brick. They originally did the foundation also.

Kyte was also back to do the plumbing.

Almost done with the brick. Starting to work on the ledge. That looks really cool up close.

The brick mortar now has to dry. They'll be back to add the siding on the front and shutters.

The windows are now in, and the back door is on. The siding has also begun on the sides and rear. The brick layer will now need to come to do a front portion of the house to maintain the look of the current main house.

This picture is from standing in the front corner of memaw's living room. The front half of her house is her living room. The doorway straightaway is her main entrance, and the doorway to the left is to her bedroom, where you can see the closet in the back on the wall.

Well, the Government may have been off today, but not the builder. The siding was first removed from our exterior wall by hand and saw. Some of the interior walls were nailed up to support the roof trusses that were built today. Lots of progress is made each time the builder comes.

Wednesday, 10-8-08

On Tuesday, the lumber was delivered from Dean Lumber.

Today, Wed. 10-08-08 - Walls and sheathing were put up. This is really getting exciting. Memaw will have to take a road trip now that it is off the ground. While Quintin and his brother Michael were at lunch, our General Contractor(Ryan) had permission to clean up and take all the small pieces of wood.

To the left of that ladder is where her "front" door will be.
According to St. Mary's County, you can't have two "front"
doors as to appear that you have two dwellings, so the door
goes right on the side of the house.

Mr. Contractor

No more driveway view! :(

WOW!
